Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on Thursday said that the state government is committed to appoint at least 20,000 teachers in the state by May 10 this year. Pegu said, “The state government will appoint 20,000 teachers and this is under the ‘Mission 1 lakh jobs’ campaign of the state government.” As soon as the appointments will start.

Pegu said, “There are vacancies in different levels – lower primary, upper primary, secondary and post graduate teachers, assistant teachers and overall the number is around 20,000. We have released advertisements for all these posts. Now for teachers of lower primary. Document verification for upper primary, secondary is going on.Once it is completed, the merit list will appear and the government will start giving the appointment.This is under the ‘Mission 1 Lakh Jobs’ campaign of the Government of Assam and it is called as this The year will be completed by May 10.

Talking about the new education policy decided by the Center in 2020, the minister said that the government has started implementing it. He said, “We have already started the implementation of the New Education Policy in the state. The New Education Policy is a comprehensive framework of a new education system under which we have already notified that our Directorate of School Education is the primary and secondary two school education system. From 2022-23, we will start separating class 11th and 12th from colleges and colleges will be only for degree and post graduate courses.”

He further said that the government has constituted a committee of Social Welfare, Education, Health, Tribal Affairs Department for pre-primary education, which will look after health and nutrition along with education of pre-primary level students.
