Educational Qualification to become IFS
If you want to become an IFS officer (IFS), then you have to do graduation in Maths, Zoology, Biology, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Veterinary Science, Animal Husbandry or Medical Science after 12th. After this you can apply for this post. Here you will also have to give a physical test.

age category
You can sit between 21 to 32 years of age in the examination for this post. Whereas for Scheduled Castes and Tribes, age relaxation is given by the Indian Government.

IFS Exam Pattern
Like other UPSC exams, the Indian Forest Service Exam (UPSC IFS Exam) is also conducted in four parts-

preliminary examination
The preliminary exam of IFS consists of two papers of 200 marks each. This exam is based on objective type questions, in which the first paper is General Knowledge and the second is the qualifying paper. In which it is necessary to get 33 percent marks. The time allotted for the exam is 2 hours.

main exam
There are total 6 papers in the main exam. In which the paper of English and General Knowledge is of 300-300 marks. Whereas the remaining 4 papers are of 200-200 marks. The participants can choose the subject for these four papers. For this UPSC releases the list of those subjects.

Interview
After the return exam, the selected participants are interviewed. In this, a panel of several officers conducts interviews.

physical test
After the interview, a physical test is also taken in this exam. For this, physical criteria have been set, such as – Height 163 cms for male candidates and 150 cms for women), Male chest 84 cms (minimum expansion of 5 cms), etc. The candidates who pass all the stages are selected for Forest Officer. Apart from this, their race is also done.

IFS Officer Training
On getting selected as IFS officers, the candidates are given rigorous training. They are sent to Lal Bahadur Shastri Academy for initial training, where they are given in-depth knowledge of all the subjects. After that they are sent to Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun. Here these candidates are given on-job training in forest management, soil conservation, tribal welfare, wildlife management, surveying and other. After the completion of training here, they get posting in both the center and the state.

Work of IFS
The job of an IFS officer is to protect the forest of his area. These officers also protect and protect the trees and plants found from the animals living in the forest of their area. The government has made many laws for the protection of wildlife, IFS officers follow these laws and protect the forests.
