RRB Group D Exam: RRB Group D: Exam Pattern and Syllabus for better preparation

RRB Group D exam will be conducted from February 23 in different phases. A total of 1,03,769 vacancies will be filled for various posts in Group D through this examination to be conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board. This recruitment includes Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Helper/Assistant in Various Technical Departments (Electrical, Mechanical and S&T Departments), Assistant Points Man etc. If you are also preparing for this exam, then know that this exam is going to be very tough, because more than one crore candidates have applied for this exam. For exam preparation, it is very important for you to have complete knowledge of the selection process, exam pattern and syllabus.

Here is the selection process

The selection process of RRB Group D is done in 3 stages. It is divided into Computer Based Test (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Document Verification (DV). The first stage is a computer based test. At the same time, in the second phase, the physical efficiency test is conducted. Candidates who pass in CBT get a chance to appear in Physical Efficiency Test. Candidates who pass the physical efficiency test are called for document verification, after which the candidates are given appointment.

Exam Pattern

In this exam 100 questions will be asked in computer based test. This CBT will be of 100 marks.

There will be negative marking in RRB Group D exam, 1 mark will be deducted for 3 questions wrong.

Candidates will be given 90 minutes to solve all the questions in the exam.

In this exam, 25 questions will be asked from Mathematics, 30 questions from General Intelligence and Reasoning, 25 questions from General Science and 20 questions from General Awareness and Current Affairs.

Exam Syllabus

Mathematics

Number System, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Percentage, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Questions will be asked from square root, root root, calculation of age, calendar and clock, pipe and cistern etc.

General Intelligence and Reasoning

The main topics in this RRB Group D paper are Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical Operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Similarities and Differences, Analytical reasoning, classification, directions, statements- reasoning and assumptions etc.

general science

In General Science section, questions are asked from Physics, Chemistry and Life Science subjects. The level of these questions is at par with the 10th standard level of CBSE or NCERT. For this you will need to understand the principles and formulas of science.

Physics

In this paper you will learn about Units and Measures, Force and Laws of Motion, Work, Energy and Power, Gravity, Pressure, Sound, Wave, Heat, Friction, Light – Reflection, and Refraction, Current Electricity, Magnetism, Magnetic Effects of Electric Current, Topics are asked from scientific instruments, inventions, important discoveries related to physics, sources of energy, etc.

chemistry

Major Topics in Chemistry Syllabus Substances, Atoms and Molecules, Structure of Atoms, Chemical Reactions and Equations, Periodic Classification of Elements, Chemical Bonding, Oxidation Reduction, Combustion, Acids, Bases and Salts, Electrolysis, Carbon and its Compounds, Fuels , Metallurgy, Synthetic Fibers and Plastics, Metals and Nonmetals, General Facts and Discoveries of Chemistry etc.

Biology

Introduction to you in Biology Section, Classification of Organisms, Cytology, Genetics, Heredity and Evolution, Botany: Classification of Plant Kingdom, Plant Morphology, Plant Tissue, Photosynthesis, Plant Hormones, Plant Diseases, Ecology and Environment, Pollution, Zoology: Classification of Animals, Animal Tissue, Human Blood, Organs and Organ System, Human Blood and Blood Groups, Human Eye, Nutrients, Human Diseases etc. questions will be asked.

General Awareness and Current Affairs

There are 20 questions asked from the General Awareness and Current Affairs section of RRB Group D exam. These questions are from topics like General Awareness, Science and Technology, Sports, Culture, Individuals, Economics, Politics. Along with NCERT books, you should read newspaper everyday for its preparation.
